For renters
Search, enquire, pay, handover and return.
How do I book equipment?+
Choose your dates on the item page and send an enquiry — at first it is non-binding. The provider confirms personally; you can then pay online and the booking is confirmed. Before enquiring, you can ask the provider questions directly on the item page.
How do payment and deposit work?+
Payment is made online — by credit card or TWINT — via our payment partner Stripe, directly to the provider. Once the provider has confirmed, you have 72 hours to pay, at the latest until the rental starts — otherwise the offer lapses. If you open the payment page shortly before the deadline, it stays valid for at least 30 minutes. The deposit is not charged in advance; instead it is reserved on your credit card two days before the rental starts and released automatically after a return without defects (which is why TWINT only works for items without a deposit). From seven days before the rental starts, we check your card in advance with a brief reservation of the deposit amount, which is released again immediately (some banks show it as “pending” for a few days). If the reservation fails, you receive an email asking you to provide the deposit; if it has not succeeded by the day before the rental starts, the booking is cancelled.
Is my booking protected?+
Yes — through the deposit, the mandatory photo record at handover and return, and clear liability rules in the rental agreement. As the renter, you are liable for damage and loss during the rental period; the deposit serves as security. Some providers also have their own insurance — you can see this directly on the item page under “Deposit, insurance & conditions”. Tip: check in advance whether your private or business liability insurance covers damage to rented items (damage to property in your care).
Can I cancel free of charge?+
As long as you have not paid yet: free of charge at any time. After payment, a sliding scale applies (before the rental starts): more than 30 days = 100% refund minus the processing fee (3.25 % + CHF 0.30), 15–30 days = 50%, 7–14 days = 25%, fewer than 7 days = no refund. If the provider cancels, you always get 100% back.
How do I redeem a voucher code?+
Scan the QR code on your card (e.g. from the trade fair) or enter the code in the booking dialogue in the field “Voucher code” — after scanning, it is already filled in there. The discount applies to the rental price (not to the deposit or delivery costs) and each code can be redeemed once per account. We grant the voucher out of our agency commission; it is capped at that amount and may therefore be lower for bookings made through a provider’s own website. The deduction appears directly in the price summary and on the invoice.
How do handover and return work?+
At handover, you document the condition together with photos — straight from your phone, the camera opens automatically. Both sides confirm. As soon as one side has confirmed, the photos can no longer be deleted; if a photo is added afterwards, the other side confirms again. The same again at return. The photo record is mandatory and protects both sides if there is a disagreement: we then mediate on the basis of the pictures and apply the agreed deposit rules.
How do delivery and collection work?+
If a provider offers delivery, they bring the item at the start of the rental and collect it again at the end. You choose the delivery and collection time slots in the enquiry. The delivery price applies per trip, so there and back are two trips. If the provider also offers self-collection, you can take care of one direction yourself and pay for only one trip. Collecting and returning yourself is only possible during the opening hours shown on the item page and in the booking dialogue; on days without opening hours, no collection or return is possible. If no hours are given, it is “by arrangement”.
Can I change the dates of an enquiry?+
Yes, as long as the enquiry is open: in the booking under “Change dates” — the enquiry remains in place, and price and availability are recalculated. If your dates do not suit the provider, they can propose different ones. You then see the new times, the return trip and the new total, and you accept exactly that total. If the price has changed in the meantime, the proposal lapses and the provider makes a new one.
What happens if something is damaged?+
Report the problem at return directly in the booking (“Report a problem”). We review the case on the basis of the photo record and, if there is damage, charge all or part of the reserved deposit in favour of the provider; otherwise it is released — transparently and in a way both sides can follow.
How do event venues and service providers work?+
Event venues (halls, seminar rooms, barns …) and event service providers (catering, DJ, photo & video, staff, technology) are listings with public details of the company, address, capacities and facilities. Instead of booking online, you send a non-binding enquiry via the enquiry box and arrange everything directly with the provider — quote, viewing and contract take place outside the platform. These providers are also vetted and verified by mietagentur.ch.
Why is there no price for venues and service providers?+
Venues and services are quoted individually — the price depends on the date, number of guests and scope. That is why it says “Price on request”: you describe your event in the enquiry box and receive a tailor-made quote directly from the provider. You pay no platform or agency fees for this.
Can I save and share items?+
Yes — tap the heart on an item. You will find your saved items at the top right; from there you can share them as a link, e.g. with your team or your clients.
Can I enquire about several items at once?+
Yes — collect everything for the event in your saved items and use “Enquire for my event” there: choose the dates, write a message, send. This creates separate enquiries with the respective providers — each confirms separately, and payment is made per booking. You keep track under “My events”.
Can I search and enquire with my AI assistant?+
Yes. Right on the site there is the smart search: simply write a whole sentence such as “Venue for 80 people in Zurich”. You can also connect mietagentur.ch to Claude: in claude.ai under Settings → Connectors, choose “Add custom connector”, enter the address https://mietagentur.ch/mcp and sign in with your account. The assistant then searches for suitable offers, answers questions about prices and availability and sends enquiries at your request. It cannot pay or cancel. It always acts as a renter, even if you connect a provider account: it sees your own rentals, not your listings or enquiries addressed to you. You can disconnect at any time under Account → “Connected AI assistants”. More at mietagentur.ch/mcp.

How do I become a provider?+
Register as a provider and upload your proof of business registration. We vet every provider profile before activation — after that you can list items, keep your calendar up to date and confirm enquiries yourself. To confirm rental enquiries, you set up a payout account in the portal (identity and IBAN, verified in one minute by Stripe) — the rental payment goes directly to you, and we only deduct the commission. For event venues and service providers the listing model applies: enquiries instead of online booking, an annual package instead of commission — “Verified” CHF 490 or “Premium” CHF 890 per year, bookable online in the provider portal (credit card and other payment methods via our payment partner Stripe), cancellable to the end of the term. Premium includes anlassplanung.ch, the quoting and staff-scheduling tool for caterers. All packages: Become a provider.
What does a listing for a venue or service cost?+
The listing itself is free: name, location, photos, description and an enquiry form. With the basic listing we pass on two enquiries per month to you, with the name, email and phone number of the interested party; your phone number and website stay hidden in the listing so that the enquiry runs through the platform. Further enquiries in the same month are visible to you without contact details — you can reply as soon as you choose a package. With “Verified” or “Premium”, your phone number and website appear in the listing and every enquiry reaches you immediately and without limit. View packages.
Can I handle my own customers through mietagentur.ch?+
Yes. In the provider portal you will find a booking button and an availability calendar to embed in your own website (Jimdo, Wix, WordPress, Squarespace, etc.). Your customers book there — the marketplace takes care of the rental agreement, secure payment, deposit, photo record, reminders and payout. For bookings made through your own website, a reduced commission rate applies; for your customer, the price stays the same. Guide: connect your own website.
How do I set opening hours and pick-up points?+
Under Portal → “Pick-up points” you set up your warehouse or showroom once with its address and pick-up opening hours and then choose the pick-up point in the item; an item can also have its own hours. Several time slots per day are possible, e.g. with a lunch break. Renters can only collect and return items themselves within these hours; days without hours count as closed, and with no hours at all it is “by arrangement”. An item’s default times (the suggestion in the booking dialogue) must fall within the opening hours. Delivery and collection by you are charged per trip.
Can I rent items myself as a provider?+
Yes. With your provider account you can enquire and rent from colleagues, just like any other renter: enquiry, confirmation, payment, deposit and cancellation terms apply in the same way. You will find your rentals in the menu under “My rentals”. The only thing you cannot do is rent your own items from yourself.
For everyone
Contact between renter and provider.
What does “vetted & verified” mean?+
We check every provider by hand before activating them: company (commercial register or business registration), identity and the quality of the information. Every listing is reviewed by us before it goes live — details, photos and the provider’s confirmation that they hold the rights to texts and images. If a provider changes essential details, we review the listing again. Equipment rental providers also go through our payment partner’s identity check before they receive any money. Reviews are only possible for bookings made through the platform. For booking requests we require a confirmed mobile number.
How do I reach my provider / renter?+
Via the inbox (speech bubble symbol at the top right) or directly in the booking under “Questions & answers”. You are notified by email of new messages. For venues and service providers you can also send files in the chat (PDF, JPG or PNG up to 10 MB), such as a quote or a floor plan.
